Cliptory Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 4, 2026

Cliptory is a clipboard manager for macOS. This policy covers what data it handles and where it goes.

What Cliptory stores

On-device processing

Everything Cliptory does with your clipboard happens locally on your Mac:

What leaves your Mac

Nothing, by default. Cliptory has no analytics, no crash reporting, and no network requests unless you turn on iCloud sync.

If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, only your pinned items and collections are uploaded to your own private CloudKit database, which is tied to your Apple ID and not accessible to the developer or anyone else. Everyday clipboard history is never synced, even with sync enabled.

Permissions

Cliptory can request Accessibility access, which it uses only to synthesize a Cmd+V paste keystroke so a selected history item pastes directly into the frontmost app. Cliptory does not read input, keystrokes, or screen contents from other apps. Without this permission, selecting an item still copies it to the clipboard for you to paste manually.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual history items in Cliptory (Option-Delete) or clear all local history from the menu bar or Settings. Removing the app and its sandbox container deletes all local data; the encryption key can be removed via Keychain Access by searching for “Cliptory”. Pinned items you have synced are removed from iCloud when you unpin them or delete their collection; to remove everything at once, turn off sync and delete Cliptory's data under System Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage → Cliptory.

Data sharing

Cliptory does not sell, share, or transmit your data to any third party. There is no server operated by the developer that Cliptory data passes through.
